My name is Amy Teeters and I am the new Administrator at Small Wonders Discovery and Learning Center. To help you get to know me a little, let me tell you a little bit about myself. I have been in the childcare field for approximately eleven years. I first started out as a Lead Preschool Teacher in 2009. I taught a three-year old class and an older 4-year old class. I absolutely love working with children and watching them grow socially, emotionally, physically, and academically. After teaching for nine years, I was promoted to Director. As Director, I now, not only, was involved with the children but also with the families. As a Director/Administrator, I believe that when families are involved in their child’s education, learning and experiences, they grow exponentially.
My education includes an Associates Degree in Early childhood Education from Youngstown State University, in which I was awarded the, “Outstanding Human Ecology Student of the Year Award.” I also have taken many continuing education classes so that I can provide the best, developmentally appropriate, education and experiences to the children. I am also a Navy Veteran. I served in the Navy from 1989 to 1993 in the field of communications. During this time, I was able to travel the world which was a great experience. I learned many things from the Navy such as discipline and attention to detail.
I am also a wife and a mother of three. I have been married to my husband, Scott, for sixteen years and I have two sons and a daughter. They are all older now, my youngest being a sophomore in high school. I am immensely proud of all their achievements. My oldest son, Zac, is an Army Veteran and has just bought his first house with his wife, Jasmine. My daughter, Erin, will be a Senior this year and then going to college in Missouri in August of 2021. My youngest, Ian, goes to Austintown Fitch and is on the Drumline for the Marching Band.
I just want you to know that children are my life and Early Childhood Education is my calling. So, I want to say thank you for allowing me the opportunity to be a part of your child’s life, education and learning experiences. They will be loved and cared for as if they were my own.
